Necessary Beauty

Sometimes we just have to see something beautiful.  Sometimes we need that reminder that there are beautiful things in this world that are deserving of awe and wonder and even preservation.

That's why I passed on that email with the pictures of the tulip fields in Washington.

After all, when we're busy planning and planting beautiful things, we're not busy planning for war.  War planning has a time and a place too, to be sure, but if you spend all your time planning for the bad stuff, you tend to forget all about the good stuff in life.

There has to be a balance.

So spend some time really looking at the photos in the last blog.  Keep in mind that those rows of tulips were planned out, for color, and some body actually went out in those fields and did all that planting in the weather and did a lot of bending over to do it, so that millions of other people would have something of the good stuff to look at later.

While you're at it, you might just think back to the story of Johnny Appleseed that we learned when we were young, and consider what seeds we're planting, now.  What is it that our children will be left with when we're gone, that we've created by our own works, now.  Which of those legacies as you actually proud of?  Do they out-number the ones that you may wish later that you could magically erradicate?

There's no magic and no time machine, so you won't be able to undo a sad legacy, later.  The only solution is to plant seeds of positive change on a very consistant basis, starting right now

If your doctor is telling you that you need to get your weight down so that you have a chance of seeing your kids graduate from high school or college, then that is one of those things that really can't be put off for another day, and you really have to start building some better habits, Today.

When you get home from that doctor's appointment, you have to go through your cabinets and fridge and dump all the sweets and most of the carbs, and replace them with some more healthful choices like fruits and low carb snacks.  Once that's dealt with, don't forget to find some fun form of exercise for yourself at least 3 times a week.

If you're work is keeping you from your family, maybe you need to look at a lighter duty or swing shift or tele-commuting or even at changing jobs.

If there's trouble on the homefront, you need to work that out.  Everyone deserves to have a happy, healthy relationship, if they want to be in a relationship.  Maybe some counseling would help.  Maybe just a family meeting.  Maybe all you need is to set up some regular date nights.  Find a sitter, or send the kids on an over-night to a friend's house, then go out or stay in, but make it count.

Make those moments as beautiful as the tulip fields in my last blog, and be sure to plan for lots of moments like that.  Plan as far ahead as you need to.  Change what needs to be changed, because those moments are going to make you happy, and people want to be around happy people, and happy people are not only better people but better parents as well.

You may not be a parent, but you are a person who deserves to be happy, healthy and fulfilled, and it doesn't just happen.  You need to take steps, every day to bring it about, whether it's planning to get into better shape or taking some time to look for a job that you will enjoy or that will give you time to do what you enjoy.

Check out my face book page, because often the secret to actually planning is breaking a goal down into small tasks and putting each one on a calendar, and I have some links, now, on my facebook page to further motivate and inspire and teach you how to improve your life situation, and all we have to do is plant a seed.

One tiny seed can become something as beautiful as a tulip or something as hugely awe inspiring as a Giant Redwood tree.  And keep in mind that tulip bulbs and Redwood trees are gifts that keep on giving.  Success breeds success, and once you've found the formula for success, you can keep on succeeding, at what you love and at what's good for you, and I will be here to cheer you on.

If you're interested in having me as your own personal cheering section and Life Coach to help you with some step- by- step action planning for improving your life or life style, please don't hesitate to call me.

We will make your ideal real.
